Expression of Interest — Team Lead Position
To Alex and Atosha,
I would like to express my interest in the Visual Content & Design Team Lead position within our Digital Growth team. Having been with the ACTU for 4 years I am keen to take this opportunity to help improve the way our team works, having seen it in many different iterations and experienced the different inter and intra-team dynamics. I hope to also take this opportunity for formal career progression within the organisation as recognition of my experience here.
Through my time here I have become familiar with the different parts of the organisation and built rapport with the different teams. I’m confident I am able to make use of these established relationships in a lead role.
In addition to my existing design skills, I am always keen to learn more so we can keeping adding tools to the belt for our team; in things such as helping Pete operate Studio 888, and UX design, as I hope to begin soon.
I have had experience within a Lead capacity during our Content and Creative Team iteration, prior to the creation of the Campaigns Team. In that role I managed the reception of design requests, delegated based on capacity and project type, and gathered information as required to complete requests and determine priorities.
However, my previous teams are not the same as Digital Growth, and as such would have different needs. As a Lead for different types of creatives I would familiarise myself with the needs of each person in my team, and learn from them first what they would require from a Lead in order to feel supported in their jobs. I would also establish what kind of system or structure fellow Leads and Atosha would need in place in order for us to also perform well in our roles.
I acknowledge there will be a learning curve if I am to take on this role, but I am eager to learn and believe I will able to do so in a supportive environment. I believe that some kind of development is essential in any change or new position in order to be set up to succeed. My success as a Lead will be tied to the success of the team, so while I hope I will be able to have this opportunity to grow within my own career, I approach it knowing that growth is contingent on how I can help my peers thrive in their roles.
